Start with the client's goal

After you finish editing, the way you present the images sets the tone for the final handover. Veylo offers three distinct delivery types: Showcase, GridBoard, and Photo Swap. Each serves a different purpose. Choosing the right one reduces back-and-forth on WhatsApp and helps clients appreciate the work without confusion.

It is important to clarify what these formats do and do not do. None of these three types involve collaborative editing or file replacement. They are final delivery methods for finished photographs. If you need clients to select photos for retouching or editors to return finished files, you should use the separate Pro Photo Library workflows (Photo Pre-selection and Editor Links), which are independent from final delivery.

Showcase: A designed presentation

Showcase opens with a curated, designed presentation that leads the client through your selected images. It is best when you want to control the narrative and the pacing of the reveal. Within Showcase, you can choose from several specific formats depending on the shoot type:

  • Photo Story: A paced sequence with captions, movement, and optional music or narration. Ideal for traditional weddings where you want to tell the story of the day chronologically.
  • Editorial Page: A scrollable publication style. Perfect for fashion lookbooks, branding shoots, or portfolio pieces where the visual layout is part of the art.
  • Event Coverage: A structured presentation for large gatherings like owambe celebrations, concerts, or church services. It handles large collections by grouping them into logical segments.
  • Chapters: Splits the collection into named parts. Useful for studio portrait sessions where you separate family, individual, and group shots.
  • Album: A page-by-page keepsake feel, good for intimate sessions or anniversary shoots.
  • Canvas: A spatial collection where related photos are grouped visually. Good for complex branding projects.
  • Campaign Delivery: A commercial presentation with named asset sets and usage notes, ideal for sending to brands or PR teams.
  • Photo Reveal: A client-controlled reveal of one photograph at a time, creating an element of surprise.

When to use Showcase: When you want to guide the client's attention, highlight specific moments, or present a high-end commercial or editorial package. It is less about "finding" a photo and more about "experiencing" the shoot.

GridBoard opens with every finished photograph displayed on a board. The client can browse freely, click any image for a closer look, and use likes or downloads if you enable them. Veylo suggests three arrangements: Even spread, Scenes together, and Colour-led order. Each arrangement keeps every photograph; it does not remove or cull files.

When to use GridBoard: When the client expects to see everything. This is the standard choice for:

  • Owambe and large weddings: Guests and the couple often want to scan the full collection to find specific moments or themselves in group shots.
  • Corporate events: Attendees need to locate their own images among many attendees.
  • Birthday parties: Parents often want to review all candid shots to decide which ones to frame.

Practical tip: GridBoard is the most efficient format when the volume of images is high and the client's goal is selection rather than storytelling. You can optionally enable a slideshow, but the client chooses to play it; it does not start automatically.

Photo Swap: The swipeable stack

Photo Swap presents every finished photograph in a swipeable stack of tilted photo cards. The client opens the set and swipes the card to move through the images. On a computer, they can drag the card or use keyboard arrow keys. There are no "Next" or "Back" buttons. The caption appears below the current photograph.

Crucially, Photo Swap is not for editing or swapping files. It is a viewing experience. It is separate from the Showcase format called "Photo Reveal." Photo Swap is about the tactile experience of going through the photos one by one, like flipping through a physical stack.

When to use Photo Swap:

  • Studio portraits: When you want the client to engage with each pose individually before deciding on prints.
  • Intimate weddings: For a smaller, more personal collection where the couple wants to relive each moment one at a time.
  • Fashion editorials: When the sequence of images matters and you want the client to feel the flow of the shoot.

At the end of the stack, the client can view the full gallery or start again. This format encourages a slower, more attentive review process.

Matching format to your workflow

Here is a quick guide to help you decide:

Shoot Type Recommended Format Why
Traditional Wedding Showcase (Photo Story or Event Coverage) Narrative flow, highlights key moments, easy for family to share.
Large Owambe GridBoard Complete collection for easy scanning and selection by many guests.
Studio Portraits Photo Swap or Showcase (Chapters) Engaging one-by-one review or organized sections for different family members.
Fashion Lookbook Showcase (Editorial Page) Professional, publication-style presentation for brands.
Corporate Event GridBoard Efficient for attendees to find their own photos.
Birthday Party GridBoard or Photo Swap GridBoard for full review, Photo Swap for a fun, engaging experience.

Practical steps for delivery

  1. Select your format: Based on the shoot type and client expectations.
  2. Upload finished images: Use finished JPEG, PNG, or WebP files up to 20 MB each. You can reuse photos from your Pro Photo Library if you have them stored there.
  3. Review captions and order: Veylo prepares a direction, but you must approve it. Ensure every photo has a meaningful caption and the order makes sense.
  4. Set access controls: Decide if you want a six-digit PIN, an expiry date, or specific download permissions. For high-value clients, a PIN adds a layer of privacy.
  5. Preview the client view: Check how it looks on both desktop and mobile. Ensure audio (if any) plays correctly after the client's first interaction.
  6. Publish and share: Copy the private link and send it via WhatsApp. A simple message like "Your photos are ready. Here is the link and your PIN" is usually sufficient.

Important distinctions

  • No automatic culling or retouching: Veylo presents the images you upload. It does not automatically select the best shots or edit them. You must upload your final, edited files.
  • Library vs. Delivery: The Pro Photo Library is for storing originals and managing pre-selection/editor handoff. It is separate from the final delivery link you send to the client. Do not confuse the two.
  • Video delivery: If you are on Pro, you can also send finished videos as a separate delivery type. This is not mixed with photos in the same link.
